OUR HIGH SCHOOL
With its 75,000 inhabitants Manresa has five public high schools. Our school is one of them, its name is Pius Font i Quer. It is located in the north part of the city, close to the outskirts roads and to the main park of Manresa, l’Agulla.There are about 680 students aged 12 to 18 and nearly 60 teachers work there. We teach the compulsory secondary education, four years, and also high school, two more years required to go to university .Our high school was created in 1978 and named after the Catalan botanist, pharmacist and chemist Pius Font i Quer born in 1888 and widely recognized as the founder of the Botanical Institute of Barcelona. He wrote, among others, the Dictionary of Botany (1953) and Medicinal Plants (1961).
La ciutat de Manresa, de 75000 habitants, té 5 instituts públics. El nostre institut, el Pius Font i Quer, està situat a la zona nord de la ciutat, prop de la carretera que porta al poble de Santpedor.En el nostre centre hi estudien uns 680 alumnes (d’edats entre 12 i 18 anys) i té quasi 60 professors. S’hi imparteixen estudis d’ensenyament secundari obligatori (4 anys) i batxillerat (2 anys) per poder després accedir a la universitat.Aquest institut va ser creat l’any 1978 i rep el nom del botànic, farmacèutic i químic català Pius Font i Quer, nascut l’any 1888 i reconegut arreu per ser el fundador de l’Institut Botànic de Barcelona. Va escriure, entre d’altres, el Diccionari de Botànica (1953) i Plantes Medicinals (1961).

MANRESA
Manresa is the capital of the Comarca of Bages (Bages county), located in the geographic centre of Catalonia and crossed by the river Cardener. Manresa is at about 65 Km from Barcelona and it is in an industrial and services area. It has a population of about 75.000 inhabitants.Because of its central location, Manresa is an important communication crossroads with a north-south road and an east-west one between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea.
